„Rocky terrain like in the Schüsselkar, only much quieter – and with the evening sun on our side.“

Description
Whilst rope teams bustle about on the well-known faces of the Schüsselkar, things are considerably quieter on the Hochwanner. Yet the climbing here is by no means inferior: solid rock, nine pitches and around 350 metres of climbing await us on the south face.
The RTR route becomes increasingly steep towards the top and offers varied climbing up to UIAA 5+. Added to this is the wall’s unique location: the view opens up wide to the south and, thanks to its orientation, we enjoy sunshine for a long time. Especially in the late afternoon, this gives the route an atmosphere that is often missing on the Schüsselkar main face, which becomes increasingly shaded.
We cover a good part of the approach on e-bikes; after the climb, we descend directly down the face via an exposed route. Back at the bikes, we round off the day’s climbing at the Rotmoosalm – with something tasty to eat or drink and the Hochwanner south face in view once more.
