„Climb, move on, gain altitude again: here, the thermals determine the direction of the flight.“
Description
Thermal flying isn’t simply a matter of flying down from the launch site into the valley. We seek out the rising air, circle upwards within it and keep gaining more and more altitude. This turns a glide into a little journey through the air – over slopes and valleys and, if conditions are favourable, quite a bit further still.
It’s impossible to say exactly how long or how far we’ll fly beforehand. The pilot reads the thermals, seeks out the nearest updrafts and decides where the flight will take us. That’s precisely what makes it so appealing: no two flights are the same, and the air determines our route to a certain extent.
In good conditions, we can spend between one and three hours in the air and experience the Tyrolean mountains from a very special perspective.
Flights take place either at Venet near Landeck or in the Innsbruck area, for example from the Nordkette or the Elfer in the Stubai Valley. Which launch site is best suited depends not only on your preferences but, above all, on the conditions on the day.
