Description
Directly above Innsbruck, the south ridge of the Vordere Brandjochspitze rises into a rugged mountain landscape. Whilst roads, houses and city life can be seen far below us, we make our way over rock, ridge towers and exposed sections towards the summit. With every metre, the city grows smaller and the scenery becomes more alpine.
There are two different ways to reach the start of the route: either the Nordkettenbahn cable car takes us to the Seegrube, from where we continue on foot, or we cycle up via the Höttinger Alm on e-bikes. Both options make for a pleasant approach and leave plenty of energy for the climb.
On the south ridge, climbing sections alternate with easier terrain and ridge passages offering spectacular views, with Innsbruck visible below at regular intervals. Anyone who still has enough time, energy and motivation afterwards can tackle another iconic summit: the Frau Hitt. To round off the day, coffee and cake await with a view over Innsbruck, before we head back down into the valley.
